Calving happens in two seasons, both late fall and in the late spring. The breeds range from Angus, both red and black, to Charolais, and Tarentaise. The dominant breed is Angus. Cattle finished by Ponoholo Ranch are for Kamuela Pride! Ponoholo History:Ponoholo Ranch Headquarters are nestled amongst the rolling green hills of the Kohala Mountains. Founded in 1928 by Pono's father and Atherton Richards, Ponoholo Ranch is now under third generation management. Pono's Grandfather started on Oahu at Honouliuli where he managed for the Oahu Land and Rail Co. The Ranch today is family run with help from everyone, including daughter Sabrina, who operates as the Ranch Administrator, as well as, Ranch Hand when necessary!
